Better Futures
Acknowledging that we need everyone – across all walks of life – to realise the opportunities of a zero emissions future, Better Futures Australia works to complement climate work already underway and scale success stories across the country.
In recent months we have been working with the Better Futures team to support their launch, starting with the creation of their brand, through to delivery of their website.
Indigenous Carbon Industry Network
As an agency with a very Darwin-heavy staffing profile, we loved working with Anna at the Northern Territory-based Indigenous Carbon Industry Network (ICIN) to deliver their first website. ICIN is a network of Indigenous-owned organisations that operate across north Australia to develop and deliver carbon projects, mainly through savanna fire management.
Berlin office opening
Okay, so the headline may be a little misleading...but our Art Director, Lully Duque, is relocating to Berlin in the coming months! It is an exciting move for Lully, who I am sure will revel in the creative scene there. It is also a great opportunity for Lully to spend some time with Code Nation’s European friends and partners.
Reed Awards 2020
It was exciting to take home another Reed Award in February. The Reed Awards are held annually in the US, and celebrate excellence in political campaigning, campaign management, political consulting and political design. Last year we won Best International Website, and this year our work with Green Music Australia took out top honours for Best Grassroots Website. We were also proud finalists in two other categories. Read on for the full wrap-up.
Campaign Playlist - Sleep, Australia, Sleep
Inspired by working with the good folk at Green Music Australia, we thought we would throw in a new addition to the newsletter - a hand-selected song to add to your campaign playlist.
As a long-time favourite of the Code Nation crew, we couldn’t go past Paul Kelly’s newest release. On Wednesday, this Aussie legend put out “Sleep, Australia, Sleep”, a timely lament about our inaction on climate change and worsening ecological destruction.
The lyrics are not exactly mood lifters, but they are spun to a dreamy lullaby-esque tune with Kelly’s characteristic storytelling prowess. This track should make anyone with a pulse angry enough to take action!
Making web pages editable in your browser
Want to make a quick edit to a mockup or play around with the text from a web page, without having control panel access? You can follow these quick steps to make any web page editable via a handy bookmark in your browser (the changes will be for your own display of course, not to how the page appears publicly).
NationBuilder discounts
We recently signed an alliance agreement with NationBuilder which gives us the ability to start offering NationBuilder subscriptions to our clients, at a reduced rate. If you’re looking to switch to NationBuilder, create a new site, or need ongoing NationBuilder support, let us know and we can try and save you some money on subscription fees at the same time :)
Find out why your supporters unsubscribing by creating an exit survey
As campaigners, we fight hard for and cherish every email address added to our list. When those supporters unknowingly opt-out of emails or hit the unsubscribe button we are often left in the dark, questioning where we went wrong. Here's how we learn from those mistakes by implementing an exit survey.
GIVEADAM
Earlier last month we launched the new site for the GIVE A DAM campaign. They are a grassroots community making a real impact in stopping the destruction of the Blue Mountains national park and the over development of western Sydney which would result from raising the Warragamba Dam wall. Thanks to the efforts of the campaign so far, NSW Labor and the Greens have committed to oppose raising the dam wall.
Stop Adani Redesign
Since 2017 we have been part of a powerful, growing movement of people who want to #StopAdani, now with an Alliance representing over 2 million people. In November we launched the new #StopAdani site, focusing on the wins of the campaign so far and continuing to advocate for a coal free Australia.
