Hepatitis Australia - Strategic Redesign and Development

Hepatitis Australia is the national peak body representing people affected by viral hepatitis, working across advocacy, policy, education and public health at both national and international levels. Their website plays a critical role in supporting people living with hepatitis, health professionals, researchers, community organisations and policymakers — all with very different needs and levels of expertise.

The objective of this project was to transform their existing, content-heavy website into a clear, intuitive and future-ready platform that better reflected Hepatitis Australia’s strategic priorities, improved usability, and made complex information easier to find and act on.

Our work began with a research and planning phase, combining a technical review of current website data and user behaviour, live user interviews and testing, with close collaboration with the Hepatitis Australia team and people impacted by viral hepatitis to understand key audiences, content priorities and user journeys. These insights informed a restructured information architecture, clearer navigation pathways, and new flexible content layouts designed to support both education and advocacy goals.

The redesign focused on helping users quickly locate relevant information, while also creating clearer opportunities to get involved — whether through campaigns, resources or sector engagement. New modular page components were introduced to give the Hepatitis Australia team greater control and flexibility when building and updating content, particularly for time-sensitive campaigns.

The site was built on NationBuilder, providing a scalable foundation that can evolve alongside changing policy, research and public health priorities, while remaining easy for the internal team to manage day-to-day.

Client feedback

The Hepatitis Australia team is pleased with the outcome of the redesign, which delivers a more accessible and user-focused digital platform.

“Our new website offers easier access to trusted information, clearer pathways to support, and a welcoming space that reflects the experiences of those it’s designed to support.” - Lucy Clynes, CEO, Hepatitis Australia.

The improved structure and navigation make it simpler for people impacted by hepatitis to find relevant information and services, while also supporting the needs of health professionals, researchers and partners across the sector.
